NeSy4H 2026: The First International Symposium on Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare

On September 24–25, 2026, the Department of Information Science and Technology at Pegaso University in Naples, Italy, hosted the 1st Symposium on Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare (NeSy4H 2026), an international scientific event dedicated to the latest advances in Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence and its applications in healthcare.

The symposium brought together researchers, academics, healthcare professionals, and industry experts to exchange knowledge, present innovative research, and discuss emerging approaches combining neural learning with symbolic reasoning.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to transform healthcare, Neurosymbolic AI is emerging as a promising paradigm for developing intelligent systems that are not only accurate but also interpretable, trustworthy, and clinically reliable.

The scientific program covered a broad range of research topics, including Neurosymbolic AI, AI for Healthcare, Medical Knowledge Graphs and Ontologies, Explainable and Trustworthy AI, Clinical Decision Support Systems, Large Language Models for Medicine, Medical Imaging and Multimodal AI, and Ethical, Regulatory, and Responsible AI.

The scientific proceedings of NeSy4H 2026 will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, providing international visibility to the research contributions presented at the symposium and supporting the dissemination of advances in Neurosymbolic AI for healthcare.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to foster scientific collaboration, encourage interdisciplinary discussions, and explore future research directions toward more transparent, reliable, and human-centered AI solutions for healthcare.

NeSy4H 2026 represented an important step in strengthening the international research community working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, symbolic reasoning, and healthcare innovation, while highlighting the Department of Information Science and Technology’s commitment to advancing research in Artificial Intelligence and its applications to healthcare.
